Race Report
Dear
This years’ race was once again a very successful event, firtly the weather was excellent and all who supported runners and walkers seemed to enjoy it. Secondly a number of the overall performances were very good with some runners getting good or improved times. Congratulations go to Dick Kearn who was the first man, and first Vet home in a time of 05hrs.32.08 (Fifty seconds faster that Les Footit last year). Second was Allan Smalls in 6hrs.29.53 and third was Stuart Mann in a time of 6.31.04. He was also the first Super Vet home. First team home was Colchester Harriers AC Fat Boys Team of Allan Small, Dave Lacey and alias, Tom Cudmore.
The first lady home and also the first lady vet was Cecilia Paterson ina. time of 07hrs.35.29 (27mins approx better than Gill Evants last year). Claire Glazebrook, Annie Carrington, Gill Bremner and Ross Mann also put in good performances. Many congratulations to them and all runners and walkers who took part.
Most of all I would like to than, you and your colleagues for without you this event would not be the success it is. I would also like to thank all the other individuals, clubs and organisations who gave considerable time and effort towards making the event so very successful, not least the volunteers who manned checkpoints, the intrepid catering team, drivers radio operators and control staff.
Once again a special mention must be made about the person who makes, repairs, updates and collates all the signs and markers on the course, the ever-enthusiastic Julie Chappell and the Lou Myers Medal will be awarded again for her commitment to this event.
Despite the major problems that beset us, post-race, last year, we are now back on track and all psot-race administration (including badges, certificates and results) was cmpleted within one wek of the event. Unfortunately the press report did not go according to plan. The notes published were to accomapny a photograph of the start that did not get printed.
So here’s looking forward to next years High Peak 40. The event will take place on Saturday 21st of September, starting at 8.00am.
It will be advertised in some of the running/long distance walking journals in the next month or so, but numbers will be limited to 300 competitors.
I hope you and your friends will be able to find the time to help us again on this occasion. Finally many thanks for your patronage and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
