Race Report
Dear competitor
Once again, the year’s race was hopefully, a very successful event. Firstly the weather was excellent and all who supported runners and walkers intimated that they enjoyed it so hopefully runners and walkers did. Secondly a number of overall performances were very good and there were a number of improved performances. Some improved their personal best quite dramatically. It was also nostalgic to see the photographs of participants and competitors in the events of previous years.
As you know this was our first attempt at running the event as a Trail Runners National Championships event and thanks go to John Foden for his help and support in putting the event on and though there were minor hiccups it seemed the event went well. So well in fact that we have been asked to repeat the event this year.
The event wil take place on Saturday 19th September starting at 8.00am. It has been, and will be again advertised in various running and long-distance walking magazines but the numbers will again be limited to 300 competitors. An application form is enclosed andwe will endeavour to ensure that regular competitors wil be guaranteed a place.
I take this opportunity to congratulate al the competitors who took part and in particular, I would like to thank all individuals, clubs and organisations who gave considerable time and effort towards making the event so successful, not least of course the volunteers who manned checkpoints, the intrepid catering team, the drivers, radio operators and the computer and control staff. Special mention must be made of the person who makes, repairs, updates and collates all the signs and markers on the course. She is the ever-enthusiastic Julie Skirvan.
Please find enclosed a copy of last year’s results and an application form for this year’s
Finally many thanks for your patronage and we look forward to seeing you later this
year.
