Race Reports
Dear competitors
The twenty-eighth High Peak 40 is now behind us. It seemed to come round very quickly after the twenty-seventh.
Comments made on the day about course records led to discussions between myself and various stalwarts of the High Peak 40. It was felt that, as there was little difference between the early days’ route and the current one (only a few yards), why differentiate? Thediversion forced upon us for the years 2007 to 2012 was just over 500yds longer but was marginally easier so again why differentiate? The course records are therefore as follows:
• Men overall –Mikk Bradley (1997) in 5.02.41.
• Ladies overall – Lucy Colquhoun (2008) in 6.13.06.
I wonder when are these records going to be beaten?
The 2015 High Peak 40 will be on Saturday 19th September and I hope to see many of you then. Online entries were popular for 2014 – not just popular but made up 90% of the entrants — and so will continue.
I have to admit to having medals left over – if any of you feel that you have missed out let me know and I shall put them in the post.
I have said a great deal about the volunteers who help out on the day and without whom this event could not take place. Some of them I know but some I have never even met. Mymost heartfelt thanks go to all of them.
Finally thanks to all of you for taking part and I hope to see you all next year. Don’t forget the date — Saturday 19 September 2015.
