PREGNANCY & FAMILY DEFERRAL
As a SheRaces partner event, we believe no woman should be penalized for having a child.
If you are pregnant or become pregnant: You can choose either:
- Defer your entry for up to 2 years (to 2027 or 2028), OR
- Receive a 100% refund (available at any time before race day)
If you become pregnant again during your deferral period, you can defer for an additional 2 years.
Partners: If your partner is pregnant and the birth is within 8 weeks of race day, you can defer your entry for 1 year.
Adoption: If you’re adopting a child and the adoption is finalized within 8 weeks of race day, you can defer your entry for 1 year.
Pregnancy & Family Deferrals:
- No admin fee
- Available at any time before race day
- Email chris@highpeak40.co.uk to arrange
NO TRANSFERS
Entry places cannot be transferred to another person. We’ve chosen this approach to be fair to everyone who enters during our registration period. If you can no longer attend, please use the deferral or refund options above.
WHY THIS POLICY?
Our commitment to you: Life happens. We want to support you while also managing the fixed costs of organizing High Peak 40 (venue deposits, permits, volunteer coordination, insurance, etc.).
Our commitment to female athletes: Research shows 88% of women are more likely to choose races that actively support female athletes. As a SheRaces partner, we recognize that pregnancy and postpartum recovery is a journey. The proportion of participants needing pregnancy deferrals each year is very small – and more than offset by creating an inclusive environment where everyone belongs on our start line.
We want you to race High Peak 40 when you’re fit, healthy, and ready.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Can I defer multiple times?
A: General deferrals can only be used once. However, if you defer due to pregnancy and become pregnant again during the deferral period, you can defer for an additional 2 years.
Q: If I defer to 2027, do I have to pay the 2027 entry fee?
A: You’ll need to pay any price difference if 2027 entry fees are higher than 2026. If they’re the same or lower, no additional payment is required.
Q: My partner is pregnant – can I defer?
A: Yes, if the birth is within 8 weeks of race day (19 July – 19 November 2026), you can defer for 1 year with no admin fee.
Q: Can I transfer my place to a friend?
A: No, entry places are non-transferable. This ensures fairness to all participants who enter during our registration period.
Q: I deferred from 2025 to 2026 – can I defer again?
A: General deferrals are one-time only. However, if your second deferral is due to pregnancy, adoption, or being a partner of someone pregnant, you can defer again under our Pregnancy & Family Policy.
Q: What if I’m injured?
A: We recommend taking out race insurance at the time of entry. Many providers offer coverage for injuries that prevent participation. You can still use the general deferral option (£10 admin fee) until 5th September 2026.
Q: I have a pregnancy deferral from 2025 – when does it expire?
A: Pregnancy deferrals are valid for 2 years from your original race year. So a 2025 deferral can be used for 2026 or 2027. If you’re pregnant again, you can extend this further.
