Race Report
Dear competitors
Every year since I took over the hot seat I have commented on how quickly each year has passed. This year has been no exception and once again there is no let up between this year and next year. It has been likened to “painting the Forth Bridge”
I expect that the route next year will be the same as 2008 and 2009. The addition of Cadster Lane to the footpath map of Derbyshire is now “under consultation” whatever that means but I think that the wheels will grind slowly.
I would have liked to see a return to hot meals at the finish but I think that we (you and I) must accept what we have at present. Any improvements which we can make will be made.
Certificates for the finishers were issued this week but when you will receive them, with the postal situation as it is, is another matter. Tally cards with the ribbons still attached were included with the certificates. The ribbons will not be returned next year.
I have said a great deal about the volunteers who help out on the day and without whom this event could not take place. Some of them I know but some I never even see. My most heartfelt thanks go to all of them.
I have booked Saturday 18th September for the 2010 High Peak 40 and I hope to see many of you then. Entry forms will be e-mailed to all of you in due course and you may well be able to enter online next year. The entry form will also be on the website – www.highpeak40.co.uk.
Finally thanks to all of you for taking part and I hope to see you all next year.
